SURE & STEADFAST
ST JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
COMPANY NEWS - 15 JANUARY 2017
We want to keep you up to date with what is happening in 2nd Forres Company Boys' Brigade so will regularly update you with news of forthcoming events and anything in particular we would like your help with. We would very much like to continue this important channel of communication with all parents and would welcome your feedback.
Our winter session came to a close with our annual Xmas party on Tuesday 19 December between 6.30 and 8pm. This year we invited all parents, friends and relatives to our party making this is a great occasion for everyone. We had an excellent turnout at our bumper party as well as a visit from Santa.
The Moray Battalion events calendar has now commenced for this year. Forres will again host the UNIHOC event on 30 January 2018. See the calendar of events on the front page of the website. The next event is the Battalion swimming gala in Lossiemouth on 20 January and we will have both Junior and Company boys participating. This is on the same day as our major fundraising event of the year, our BB Coffee morning in Forres Town Hall. On this exceptionally busy day also, our Company Captain has been invited to attend the installation of the new Priest in Charge at St John's church, Rev Dr Hamilton Inbadas, where he will also be enrolled as our new Company Chaplain.
We started our new spring session with 6 new Junior recruits who moved up from the Anchor section. We will see how they get on as it will be quite different in the older section. Our Anchor section now has two groups, Typhoon and Tornado, and our Junior Section also has two sections, Illustrious and Invincible. All boys are now assigned to one of these teams.
We have also teamed up with the Dava Way Association in Forres and now have responsibility for maintaining the route from Mannachie Avenue to Dallas Dhu distillery. This is a great honour for the Company and we look forward to assisting with this worthwhile community project. We will be spending quite a lot of time on this over the next few months. We now visit the Dava Way every month to carry out our maintenance duties.
We are still looking for new boys to join any of our sections as well as extending an invitation to any ex-Forres BB colleagues to assist us as Helpers or as Officers. We have grown remarkably quickly as a Company and we need some additional adult support to assist us to further develop our presence in the community. If you would like to help with any BB activity or just generally assist, please let us know. You will be made very welcome. We have made some changes to the leadership structure for this year. Amanda Mackenzie is the Leader in Charge of the Junior and Company sections and Sarah Akehurst is the Leader in Charge of the Anchor section. Any queries regarding any of the sections should directed to Amanda or Sarah in the first instance.
Just a reminder that you can now purchase uniform for your son directly from the online BB shop. Just click on the "Shop" link on the Home page and you will be able to access the on line shop directly. The shop will accept debit and credit card payments. We hope this will be of use to all parents. We also have a Facebook link on our website so that you can read Facebook updates without even being signed up for Facebook! Remember to look at our website www.forresboys-brigade.co.uk which is regularly updated, on Facebook, and now on Twitter @2nd ForresBB.
If you have any issues, either contact us via the website or in person at Company night on a Tuesday in St Leonard's Church hall as follows:

Junior Section: 7.15pm - 8.45pm
