ST JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Like every voluntary organisation nowadays, funding is an important issue to ensure that an organisation remains sustainable. The Boys' Brigade is no different. So 2nd Forres Company must raise enough money to ensure it can continue, pay its bills, whilst at the same time raise funds for events, trips, equipment, etc. for the boys. As a new company, we received start up funding from Boys' Brigade nationally but we now don't receive any ongoing funding. Thanks to the generosity of the community of Forres and our Church, we have successfully developed our company and re-established it into the community. As a result, we have managed to expand our Company into our three sections.
Our small team of dedicated fundraisers have been a huge help to us in previous years. Led by Stephanie Wallace and Morag Souter, the team organised a Christmas fair at St Leonard’s last year which was very well supported and raised over £400 for the Company. A coffee morning took place in St John's church the year before which was well attended and we received significant funds for the Company. Our biggest fundraiser of this year will take place on Saturday 20 January 2018 in Forres which will be a coffee morning between 10am and 12pm. We know this will be hugely successful for us. On Saturday 7 October 2017, a sponsored bag pack took place at the Forres Co-op supermarket where boys from all sections assisted with bag packing for customers. We raised over £300 for the Company. We also have a bucket collection at Mosset Park in Forres on a date to be confirmed. We received £400 for distributing the Forres Focus to all Forres residents. Finally, we raised £106 from our raffle at our annual Xmas party. Other further fundraising activities are always being considered.
The team has also organised raffles and craft stalls and we are tremendously fortunate to have such a dedicated team. However we could do with more help with fundraising and would encourage as many ideas to come from parents, and indeed anyone else. We are of course indebted to our generous business friends in the town who regularly donate prizes to us. Our sincere thanks to them for their continued support.
If you are interested in helping us out with fundraising or indeed any other activity, please don’t be shy and let us know. We would be delighted to welcome any new friends into the Boys’ Brigade community.
