SURE & STEADFAST
ST JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
COMPANY NEWS - 6 MAY 2018
We want to keep you up to date with what is happening in 2nd Forres Company Boys' Brigade so will regularly update you with news of forthcoming events and anything in particular we would like your help with. We would very much like to continue this important channel of communication with all parents and would welcome your feedback.
Our summer session has now commenced with preparations well underway for our annual Parents & Awards evening which takes place on Tuesday 19 June 2018 in St Leonard's church hall. This is our most prestigious event of the year to which all are welcome to attend to see the boys perform some of the many activites from throughout the year as well as celebrating the award of their BB badges. The evening will as always have a few surprises as well.
We still have a full programme of events which includes a visit from the Scottish Ambulance Service to give the boys training in basic life-saving, including CPR and the use of a defibrillator. We also will be welcoming our local MP Douglas Ross who will be attending to meet with our Junior and Company sections for a question and answer session on his roles as a constituency MP and football referee.
We also have our final fundraising event of the year with a sponsored bag pack at Tesco's in Forres on Saturday 26 May 2018. We will be looking for as many boys as possible to attend.
We have also teamed up with the Dava Way Association in Forres and now have responsibility for maintaining the route from Mannachie Avenue to Dallas Dhu distillery. This is a great honour for the Company and we look forward to assisting with this worthwhile community project. We will be spending quite a lot of time on this over the next few months. We now visit the Dava Way every month to carry out our maintenance duties.
We are still looking for new boys to join any of our sections as well as extending an invitation to any ex-Forres BB colleagues to assist us as Helpers or as Officers. We have grown remarkably quickly as a Company and we need some additional adult support to assist us to further develop our presence in the community. If you would like to help with any BB activity or just generally assist, please let us know. You will be made very welcome. We have made some changes to the leadership structure for this year. Amanda Mackenzie is the Leader in Charge of the Junior and Company sections and we are now looking to replace Sarah Akehurst as the Leader in Charge of the Anchor section. Any queries regarding any of the sections should be directed to Amanda or myself in the first instance.
Just a reminder that you can now purchase uniform for your son directly from the online BB shop. Just click on the "Shop" link on the Home page and you will be able to access the on line shop directly. The shop will accept debit and credit card payments. We hope this will be of use to all parents. We also have a Facebook link on our website so that you can read Facebook updates without even being signed up for Facebook! Remember to look at our website www.forresboys-brigade.co.uk which is regularly updated, on Facebook, and now on Twitter @2nd ForresBB.
If you have any issues, either contact us via the website or in person at Company night on a Tuesday in St Leonard's Church hall as follows:

Junior Section: 7.15pm - 8.45pm
Company Section: 7.15pm - 8.45pm
