COMPANY NEWS - 12 AUGUST 2018
We want to keep you up to date with what is happening in 2nd Forres Company Boys' Brigade so will regularly update you with news of forthcoming events and anything in particular we would like your help with. We would very much like to continue this important channel of communication with all parents and would welcome your feedback.
Our summer session ended with a highly successful and well attended Display evening on 19 June in St Leonard's hall where as always our boys excelled themselves. With activities by each of the Sections, the boys provided a brief glimpse of what they have been doing at BB over the last year. The stirring finale from our Junior and Company sections was a very moving tribute to the fallen in 1918, whose centenary we mark this year. This tribute by our older boys was devised, produced and presented by the boys themselves and we know this captured the hearts of the parents and friends who attended. Our Anchor boys amused everyone with their competitive streak and well done to both the Red and Blue teams for making this such a fun event.
There was a serious side to the evening with the award of badges to every boy from each of our three sections. This was the highlight of the evening for Mums and Dads as well as the boys and it was a pleasure to award badges to every boy. These were well deserved. In particular, the three trophy winners were worthy recipients and are to be commended for their individual contribution, effort and commitment to the Boys' Brigade. We also presented awards to our Fundraising team for their fantastic fundraising efforts and to our two loyal volunteer helpers who were awarded their official Friends of BB badges.
This was the first Awards evening attended by our new Chaplain, Rev Dr Hamilton Inbadas, who we must warmly commend for his support and friendship to the Company as well as for his musical contribution on the night. I think we will be making much more use of Hamilton's musical talents this year! We also wish Hamilton well in his role as Moray Battalion Chaplain this year which means that the annual Battalion Service and Church parade will be taking place at St John's church in Forres in March next year.
Finally, we would like to thank our Battalion President, Captain Jack Currie, who attended our Display night. Jack has always been a great supporter of our Company and has been warmly welcomed to Forres since we started. We know he enjoys his visits to us and thank him for his kind words on the night and for presenting one of our main awards.
We are always looking for new boys to join any of our sections as well as extending an invitation to any ex-Forres BB colleagues to assist us as Helpers or as Officers. We have grown remarkably quickly as a Company and we need some additional adult support to assist us to further develop our presence in the community. If you would like to help with any BB activity or just generally assist, please let us know. You will be made very welcome.
Just a reminder that you can now purchase uniform for your son directly from the online BB shop. Just click on the "Shop" link on the Home page and you will be able to access the on line shop directly. The shop will accept debit and credit card payments. We hope this will be of use to all parents. We also have a Facebook link on our website so that you can read Facebook updates without even being signed up for Facebook!
